Analysis: The Egyptian Elections

This past weekend, Mohammad Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood was declared the winner in the Egyptian Presidential elections. This is a watershed event. The Muslim Brotherhood is a radical Islamist group that was founded in 1928 by Hassan al Banna, a devotee of Adolf Hitler. For eighty four years it has been a goal of the Muslim Brotherhood to turn Egypt into an Islamist state, and to be able to spread the flag of Islam throughout the world. Many people have called this, "a milestone for Egyptian democracy." Nothing could be further from the truth. This is as much a milestone for democracy in Egypt as the voting in of Hamas is a milestone for democracy in Gaza, or the voting in of Hitler was a milestone for democracy in Nazi Germany. [more...]

Why Syria Downed Turkey's Phantom Jet

Syria is apologizing to Turkey for shooting down one of its F-4 Phantoms that flew into its airspace. The Assad regime says it was an accident and that the aircraft was only identified as Turkish after the incident. The Turks are still furious and are talking about unspecified measures in response. President Gul says that it is not uncommon for fast-flying planes to violate the airspace of other countries and that the F-4 was unarmed. It is possible that Syrian military did make a mistake but what was Assad’s intention if it wasn’t? [more...]

Muslim Brotherhood Wins Egyptian Presidency

The results of Egypt’s presidential election have been officially announced and the Muslim Brotherhood and its Palestinian wing, Hamas, are in a state of jubilation. Mohammed Morsi won with 51.7% of the vote, while the secularist former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq came in a close second with 48.2%. The Islamists shouldn’t get too excited. The fact remains that the Supreme Armed Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) remains in control of the country. [more...]

The OTHER Eric Holder Scandal

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is in the spotlight after the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold him in contempt because he is refusing to provide documents related to the Fast and the Furious scandal. Tax Dollars at Work: U.N. Trashes U.S. Over ‘Violence’ Against OWS

United Nations officials are using American taxpayers’ money, which subsidizes UN operations, to put their noses into the treatment of Occupy Wall Street protesters in various cities across the United States.

In a letter written to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by Frank La Rue, UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, and Maina Kiai, UN special rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, the UN officials demanded an explanation of “the behavior of police departments that violently disbanded some Occupy protests last fall.” [more...]

M. Zuhdi Jasser to Testify before U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security

Committee to discuss Muslim reaction to radicalization hearings

M. Zuhdi Jasser, President and Founder of The American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD), will testify today before the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security on “The American Muslim Response to Hearings on Radicalization within their Community.”  The hearing will be held at the 311 Cannon House Office Building and a live video feed will be available HERE.

In M. Zuhdi Jasser's new book, A Battle for the Soul of Islam: An American Muslim Patriot's Fight to Save His Faith, he offers non-Muslims a definitive comprehension of the difference between Islam and the spiritual cancer known as Islamism, or political Islam, and how violence and extremism run counter to Islam's true teachings. As he persuasively argues, until we acknowledge the threat of Islamism in all its forms, the majority of Americans will be deceived into recognizing only the most obvious: terrorism.

The hearing will be the fifth in a series of hearings that have examined the threat of radicalization within the American Muslim Community. Dr. Jasser testified at the first in the series in March 2011 where his testimony focused on the threat that the separatist ideology of political Islam poses to the radicalization of American Muslims and its impact on the United States.  Subsequent hearings have looked at how radicalization occurs in U.S. Prisons, the threat posed to the American Somali community from the Al Shabab terror network and the impact that radicalization is having on the U.S. military.

“This series of hearings from Chairman King’s committee have been an incredible first step towards the U.S. finally entering the ideological battle against political Islam,” said Dr. Jasser.  “Despite the vitriol that has been leveled against the committee, at AIFD we have seen a tremendous amount of support from American Muslims in favor of this dialogue. The hearings have opened the door for alternative and pragmatic Muslim voices to be part of the long overdue national conversation about radicalization and the threat.”

The author of “A Battle for the Soul of Islam,” Jasser is a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and a practicing physician in Phoenix, AZ.  He founded AIFD to be a Muslim voice that advocates for the founding principles of the U.S. Constitution and for the separation of mosque and state. The Homeland Security Committee announced that he will be joined by fellow American Muslims Ms. Asra Nomani and Dr. Qanta Ahmed.  Nomani is a former Wall Street Journal reporter and current journalism lecturer at Georgetown University and the co-director of the Pearl Project.  She authored Standing Alone: An American Woman’s Struggle for the Soul of Islam and Milestones for a Spiritual Jihad: Toward an Islam of Grace.  Ahmed is also a practicing physician and is a recognized expert in health issues pertaining to the Hajj.  She is author of In the Land of Invisible Women, a personal memoir of living and working as a western Muslim woman in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The committee will also hear from Mr. John Cohen, principal coordinator for Counterterrorism, Department of Homeland Security.

Congressman King stated that “Next week’s hearing will expand on the prior hearings to examine the impact they have had in the Muslim Community’s ability to address this issue and on U.S. efforts to counter al-Qaeda and affiliated groups’ radicalizing of Muslims in this country to carry out terrorist attacks on the homeland.”

American Muslims are the primary victims of Islamist radicalization and these hearings are giving voice to members of this community who take seriously the root causes of radicalization and who see the freedoms guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution as the best protection for the practice of their Islamic faith.

Five Congressmen Call for Muslim Brotherhood Influence Investigations

In what could prove to be a watershed moment in the fight against radical Islam, five prominent members of Congress wrote letters on June 13 to the Inspector Generals of the Departments of State, Justice, Defense, Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence requesting investigations into the influence of Muslim Brotherhood-tied groups and individuals. The letters were signed by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) of the House Armed Services Committee and Rep. Louie Gohmert, the Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. The Islamic Society of Monmouth County, a mosque in Middletown, N.J., is led by Imam Reda Shata, a supporter of Hamas who was under surveillance by the NYPD when he was at the Islamic Center of Bay Ridge. You can read more about Imam Shata here. The ISMC is seeking an expansion, specifically the construction of a guest house for overseas scholars, a community center and a larger parking lot. The planning board hearing on the matter was a great opportunity to raise this issue and so on June 7, about 100 people packed the Middletown Townhall building after I alerted many groups about it. Caliphate Conference Finds New Venue at Last Minute

Though our efforts compelled the Meadows Club to back out of hosting Hizb ut-Tahrir’s anti-American, anti-democracy Khilafah Conference, the group had just enough time to find another venue. On Saturday night, just hours before the event, the Chicago Daily Herald reported that the Lexington House of Hickory Hills, Illinois, had agreed to host Hizb ut-Tahrir. [more...]

CAIR Executive Elected as Delegate to Democratic National Convention

The Executive-Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Greater Area of Los Angeles Area chapter, Hussam Ayloush, has been elected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. CAIR was labeled as an "unindicted co-conspirator" by the federal government in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, a charity shut down for financing Hamas. On July 1, 2009, District Judge Jorge Solis upheld the label, ruling that the government provided "ample" evidence tying CAIR to Hamas. [more...]

'Flaming' Attack on Iran

An extremely advanced cyber attack, dubbed "The Flame," has been detected in seven Middle Eastern countries. To no one’s surprise, Iran is, by far, the Number 1 target of the intelligence-gathering malware. The CEO of Kaspersky Lab says Flame is 20 times as complex as the Stuxnet malware that did serious damage to Iran’s nuclear program, making it the most sophisticated cyber attack on record. The Islamists’ Allies in Law Enforcement

If you are searching for proof of the success of stealth jihad, then look no further than the Islamists’ success in becoming partners with law enforcement agencies eager to reach out to the Muslim community. Los Angeles should be particularly embarrassed by an expose by the Investigative Project on Terrorism published on June 1. Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca is among the most high-profile defenders of the Muslim Brotherhood’s fronts in the U.S., including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). He stands by the group’s innocence, even though the federal government designated it as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, a front set up by the Muslim Brotherhood to finance Hamas. The FBI subsequently ended its use of CAIR as a liaison, but some in law enforcement, such as Sheriff Baca, believe they know better than the agency. CAIR has honored Baca with an award for his support. Los Angeles County Deputy Sherif Morsi received it on his behalf. [more...]
