Five Congressmen Call for Muslim Brotherhood Influence Investigations

In what could prove to be a watershed moment in the fight against radical Islam, five prominent members of Congress wrote letters on June 13 to the Inspector Generals of the Departments of State, Justice, Defense, Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence requesting investigations into the influence of Muslim Brotherhood-tied groups and individuals. The letters were signed by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) of the House Armed Services Committee and Rep. Louie Gohmert, the Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. The Islamic Society of Monmouth County, a mosque in Middletown, N.J., is led by Imam Reda Shata, a supporter of Hamas who was under surveillance by the NYPD when he was at the Islamic Center of Bay Ridge. You can read more about Imam Shata here. The ISMC is seeking an expansion, specifically the construction of a guest house for overseas scholars, a community center and a larger parking lot. The planning board hearing on the matter was a great opportunity to raise this issue and so on June 7, about 100 people packed the Middletown Townhall building after I alerted many groups about it. Caliphate Conference Finds New Venue at Last Minute

Though our efforts compelled the Meadows Club to back out of hosting Hizb ut-Tahrir’s anti-American, anti-democracy Khilafah Conference, the group had just enough time to find another venue. On Saturday night, just hours before the event, the Chicago Daily Herald reported that the Lexington House of Hickory Hills, Illinois, had agreed to host Hizb ut-Tahrir. [more...]
