Trashing the Constitution

Every Supreme Court justice is required, under Article VI of the U.S. Constitution, to be bound by his or her oath or affirmation “to support this Constitution.” Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just broken this commitment by insulting, in front of a foreign audience, the very document she is sworn to support. In an interview during her visit to Cairo, which aired January 30, 2012 on Al-Hayat TV, Justice Ginsburg advised the Egyptian people to ignore the U.S. Constitution in preparing their own new constitution. It’s just too “old,” she said. Instead, Justice Ginsburg lavished praise on several post-World War II foreign documents such as the South African constitution, Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the European Convention on Human Rights. Obama’s Disastrous Islamist Outreach

For three years, Barack Obama’s engagement policy with Islamists, most notably in Iran, has proven dangerous. The Iranian regime exploited Obama’s show of weakness by moving ahead aggressively with its nuclear weapon program. Now the Obama administration is doubling down on its disastrous engagement policy. It is serving as the midwife to the takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood and of Afghanistan by the Taliban. And there is a distressing link between the two.

A front page article in the New York Times on January 5th reported what has been obvious since Obama took office. The administration has sought to “forge close ties” with the Muslim Brotherhood - “an organization once viewed as irreconcilably opposed to United States interests.” [more...]

The Obama administration continues to deny that we are at war with Islamist jihadists. Indeed, the word “jihad” itself is forbidden in Obama-land if used to describe the Islamist warriors. At its highest levels, the Obama administration insists on using bland euphemisms rather than accurate language describing the Islamist ideology we are fighting. As far as the Obama administration is concerned, the global war against Islamist killers is an “Overseas Contingency Operation.” The Fort Hood massacre, in which thirteen people were killed and dozens more wounded by an Islamist jihadist, is described by Obama officials as “workplace violence.” [more...]

Confronting Muslims of the Americas

On April 16, the United Muslim-Christian Forum (UMCF) held an interfaith event in Owego, New York, featuring Christian and Muslim speakers, including the mayor of the town. Its Web site proudly hosts a photo of Binghamton Mayor Matthew T. Ryan holding a UMCF sign. Far from the model of tolerance it casts itself as, the UMCF is a front for an anti-Semitic, Islamic extremist group named Muslims of the Americas (MOA), and the keynote speaker warned that Allah will destroy whoever supports Koran burnings, and possibly the entire country. Motorcycle Assassins Strike Again?

Another Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated on July 23, making him the fourth to be killed in the past two years. The regime denies that he was connected to the nuclear program, and is accusing Israel and the U.S. of carrying out an act of terrorism. If a foreign intelligence service is the culprit, then it is the latest shot fired in a wide-ranging covert campaign to delay the day when Iran finally gets a nuclear bomb. [more...]

Panetta Warns Iran

Fourteen American soldiers were killed in Iraq last month, the highest monthly total since 2008. The rise in attacks has caused Defense Secretary Panetta to bluntly warn Iran that the U.S. will do what is necessary to defend its soldiers. U.S. Hints at Regime Change Following Attack on Syrian Embassy

The revolution in Syria is an opportunity to dramatically alter the balance of power in the Middle East in our favor.

Secretary of State Clinton is warning Syrian dictator Bashar Assad that he “is not indispensable and we have absolutely nothing invested in him remaining in power,” a marketed escalation in rhetoric following attacks on the U.S. and French embassies that were undoubtedly orchestrated by the Syrian regime. Hezbollah Sets Up Shop in Mexico

A Tucson Police Department memo from September 2010 has been leaked onto the Internet by hackers, and it warns that Hezbollah has set up shop in Mexico. The terrorist group has linked up with the Mexican drug lords, and is even said to have a large arms stockpile in the country. Terrorist groups are looking at the raging drug war in Mexico as an opportunity to further their deadly ambitions. [more...]

The U.S.-Pakistani relationship is continuing its fast downward spiral. The Pakistani government has expelled over 100 American advisors and is demanding the closure of a base used for drone strikes. 'Kick in the Gut' for Al-Qaeda Killers

On June 3, Al-Qaeda may have suffered its biggest blow since the killing of Osama Bin Laden when a drone strike targeted Ilyas Kashmiri, an elite commando and possible replacement for the terror chief. Pakistani officials are certain of his demise but U.S. officials are skeptical. If Kashmiri was killed, then Al-Qaeda has lost one of its most prized operatives, and the West can celebrate the loss of a terrorist whose skill earned him the nickname "the commando commander." And on June 11, the head of Al-Qaeda’s operations in East Africa was killed in Somalia, making him possibly the third senior commander to be killed in six weeks. [more...]

At least 5,000 Syrians have fled to Turkey as the Assad regime is crushing Jisr al-Shughour after soldiers and police officers refused to fire on civilians. More and more stories are coming out of soldiers defecting and security personnel being executed for disobeying orders. Zawahiri’s New Videotape Shows Leadership Crisis in Al-Qaeda

For al-Qaeda's number two, it's a question of trying to keep the organization together in the aftermath of bin Laden's death.

The video of Ayman al-Zawahiri released on June 8 is most noteworthy for what he did not do. Despite being the official second-in-command of al-Qaeda, he did not declare, or even hint, that he is now the group’s official head. This indicates that Zawahiri is fearful of creating a fissure by asserting his authority, aware that the rank-and-file is not united behind him. It also means that the top leadership has been unable to communicate to decide on a successor, allowing contradictory reports that Zawahiri, Saif al-Adel, or Hamza bin Laden have taken the helm to spread confusion. The United Nations Security Council continues to sink lower and lower in an effort to find language acceptable to all members condemning the Syrian government’s ruthless massacre of its unarmed citizens. Meanwhile, under the leadership of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whom Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has recently called a “reformer,” more than 1,000 civilians have been killed to date.

Rather than confront directly the evil of mass murder imposed by the Syrian regime, the latest draft resolution proposed by the United Kingdom “calls upon all sides to act with utmost restraint.” Moral equivalency between the acts of government forces and protesters was an attempt to win over Security Council members such as India who complained that there were “armed extremists among the protesters” and wanted the Council to condemn the demonstrators as well. Crowds of protesters are celebrating in the streets of Sanaa following President Saleh’s departure to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment after three rockets struck his palace. Their cheers may be premature, as he has given no indication that he will give up his fight to stay in power. Obama: Regime-Changing Neocon?

Like his predecessor, the president has embraced the concept of spreading democracy in the Middle East.

Everyone was so focused on the part of President Obama’s Middle East speech about a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders that his transformation into a democracy-spreading, regime-changing neocon was missed. He proclaimed the goal of American foreign policy in the Middle East is “to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy.” Those are more polite words for incremental regime changes of all the undemocratic governments. The Second Egyptian Revolution?

Egypt’s top prosecutor has announced that former President Hosni Mubarak will be prosecuted, possibly in a military court, for ordering the killing of protesters and corruption. The ousted leader may face the death penalty. This will be a test of Egypt’s experiment with democracy, as there is a high potential for a show trial. Report: Obama Moving Towards Regime Change in Syria

Yes, you read that title correctly. According to the Associated Press, the Obama administration is close to changing course on Syria and supporting the removal of Bashar Assad from power. The decision has not yet been made - and this is likely a calculated leak meant to deliver a last warning to Assad - but this is nonetheless a huge change in policy. An official has told the AP: "we are getting close" to demanding the Syrian dictator’s resignation. Apparently the language is already being crafted, with the report stating: "The first step would be to say for the first time that President Bashar Assad has forfeited his legitimacy to rule." This will be coupled with language supporting a transition towards democracy - a softer way of saying two words the Obama administration is so reluctant to utter: "regime change." [more...]

The Pakistani government now faces enormous pressure, at home and from the U.S., and has chosen to tote an anti-American line and deny any wrongdoing. The country is still in a state of euphoric celebration from the May 1 assassination of Osama bin Laden, and America wants to see the photos of his corpse. Proof is required to put a dent in the still-popular 9/11 conspiracy theories and to maximize the demoralization of al-Qaeda and bin Laden’s sympathizers. The Death of bin Laden

This is a significant moment for America in our War on Terror. It shows that America has penetrated Al-Qaida on the highest level. Osama's death was not accomplished by a distance drone long shot hoping to kill him. This was accomplished by deep infiltration of the Al-Qaida organization on a human level by the U.S.

This means that Osama was betrayed by his inner circle, which will cause great damage to Al-Qaida and to the global Jihad movement by showing them that we can infiltrate and get anybody we want sooner or later.

This is great PR for America and a significant defeat for Al-Qaida. It doesn't mean that the War on Terror is over; it means that the hero of the jihadi movement worldwide is gone. No one can replace Osama bin Laden in stature and charisma. Neither Al-Zawahiri nor Al-Awlaki have the star power nor the experience in jihadi strategic planning or operations like bin Laden.

Palestinian "Reconciliation" Won't Last Long

On Wednesday, Hamas and Fatah reached a reconciliation agreement that includes the formation of a unity government that will last until general elections are held within one year. The groups claimed that all areas of disagreement had been settled, including with security arrangements. It is being hailed as an achievement, but it ends the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and is bound to ultimately fail. [more...]

Libyan Rebels Sinking

The seesaw battle in Libya rages on, with the rebels asking for a truce and in a full-scale retreat from cities they recently re-captured. The weaknesses of the rebel forces mean that they will need significant, long-term outside assistance to survive unless the coalition decides to remove Qaddafi from power. The West now faces a catch-22: It can provide the rebels with what they need, knowing there are Islamist elements among them or the rebels will go to those willing to help them, which could include Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and other Islamists. The Dilemma of Qur'an Burning & Violence: Hyper Radical Reaction or Mere Hypocrisy?

For the past few days we have been hearing news from Afghanistan regarding riots to protest the burning of a Qur'an in Florida. The results of these riots were the killing and injuring of tens of people, all for the sake of one book. Although no one should condone acts of burning the Qur'an or any other books for that matter, the puzzling question remains, why is it such a big deal when it comes to the Qur'an? In order to answer this question, one must understand the Islamic view concerning the Qur'an.

Perhaps the most sacrosanct belief of the Islamic faith is that the Qur’an is a miraculous book. It is believed to be the ultimate miracle of Islam: not only a book sent down from heaven, but a perfect book in language and structure that could never be replicated by mankind. As such, the Qur’an is not to be challenged. When questions arise, most Islamic scholars deal with them only from the perspective that the Qur’an is a miraculous message from Allah. If, in fact, this assumption could be proven to be in error, Muslims would be empowered to subject the Qur’an to true critical analysis, in the same fashion that all other religious texts in history have been analyzed. The Obama Administration Finally Reverses a Dangerously Dumb Decision: No Circus Trial in New York For KSM

It took two years, but the Obama administration finally announced that self-professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four alleged co-conspirators will face prosecution by a military tribunal in Guantanamo. Attorney General Eric Holder, appearing as if he had been waterboarded into reversing his prior decision to try them in a federal court in New York, made the announcement yesterday. The reversal spared the nation from a made-for-TV Al Qaeda propaganda circus and allowed New Yorkers to breathe a sigh of relief that they won’t have to host these monsters in their backyard. Nevertheless, Holder just couldn’t miss an opportunity to take a swipe at Congress for what he called its “unwise and unwarranted” restrictions on where alien enemy combatants could be tried. This left him no choice but to abandon his original boneheaded decision to call for a civil trial in New York. [more...]

White House Meets Reality

The Obama Administration’s belated decision to reverse course and proceed with military commission trials for 9/11 Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four associates shows the Administration’s disregard for reality has now come full circle. We can thank the newly elected members of Congress for this turnaround, as they sought to represent the will and wishes of most Americans who did not want to grant terrorists trying to destroy our way of life the same Constitutional rights granted to U.S. citizens. This is also a victory for the family members of the 9/11 victims and for all Americans fed up with political correctness and waiting for justice to be served on those who committed the unconscionable mass murder of 3,000 innocent Americans on 9/11 nearly a decade ago.

Attorney General Holder’s announcement that “Congress made me do it” came less than 24 hours before many family members of the 9/11 victims were planning to descend on Capitol Hill and testify before a key Senate Committee as to the Obama Administration’s failure to act in seeking justice for the 9/11 actions. Perhaps, the White House, watching its approval numbers plummet, changed course after realizing that on this very sensitive issue, almost 70% of Americans, regardless of their political affiliation, do not want terrorists, and in particular Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his associates, tried in American civilian courts.

As they await their trial, Khalid and associates can continue living in what these Gitmo prisoners term in Arabic, “Al muntazah al-dini lilmujaheden al Muslimin," “The Religious Resort for Islamic holy warriors.” They can continue enjoying their three halal meals a day in accordance with their religious dictates. They have radio, television, soccer games, air-conditioning, clean clothes, and servants - meaning American GIs, who wait on them hand and foot. They have Islamic chaplains and are handed Korans by people so concerned as not to offend, that they wear latex gloves and carry the book with two hands. Oh, and by the way, Khalid Sheik Mohammad has exercise equipment in his prison cell.

As the trial now goes to the military commission for adjudication, let’s quickly recount 5 reasons why Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his associates should not have been tried in the civilian court system:

1. To try him in civilian court would have given him the world stage he desired for declaring Jihad against the United States. He would have used his time in the limelight to share his fundamentalist 7th Century interpretation of the Koran that teaches that the violent later passages supersede and replace the earlier peaceful verses - a doctrine known as "Abrogation." This doctrine leads followers like KSM, Major Nidal Hasan and others to claim Koranic sanctioning of their violent actions. Why would we give him such a platform?

2. The case against him would have been in jeopardy, as much of the information would have been declared inadmissible due to national security concerns. Even though Attorney General Holder all but guaranteed conviction of KSM and his cronies (a guarantee that undermined the very rationale the Administration offered for holding the trial in civilian court system) the hard reality of the matter is that KSM and his associates acted as enemy combatants / terrorists. To allow their defense attorneys in the discovery stages of the trial to have access to sensitive national security information that led to their apprehension would have been unacceptable to reveal and therefore inadmissible in court.

3. The civilian jury members would have had a target put on their heads, for the rest of their lives. Could you imagine if you were called for jury duty and had to vote to convict an individual with documented ties to an international network of terrorists that included Osama Bin Laden? Think that person might feel they have a target on their head?

4. The unbelievable cost to taxpayers to host and protect such a trial would have been staggering. NYC would have paid in the neighborhood of $1 Billion dollars just to provide security for the court cases themselves.

5. It would have incentivized more jihad attacks against civilian targets. Why attack military targets where you will get less attention? If civilian targets warrant civilian trials with the corresponding publicity that comes with it, then expect more civilian targets from the jihadists.

Common sense and the will of the people won over political correctness. Whatever the reasons for the Obama Administration’s reversal, we at ACT! for America welcome the decision.

The Myth of Islamic Democracy and the Middle East Crisis

The Case for U.S. Action in Libya

Muammar Qaddafi’s goal is obvious: If he goes down, he wants to bring Libya with him. He wants the day he falls to be remembered as a day of bloodshed, not of joy. His fighter jets are firing on protesters and a new report says he has ordered the destruction of his country’s oil facilities, which would eliminate 75 to 90 percent of the next government's revenue and make the world feel his pain as oil prices skyrocket. It is time for the U.S. to step in.

President Obama finally made a statement yesterday about the uprising in Libya, saying the violence is “outrageous and unacceptable” and that the government had a “strong responsibility to refrain from violence.” As for a response, no specifics were offered beyond: “We are reviewing a variety of options with our international partners..."

President Obama should have called for Qaddafi’s resignation days ago. If Hosni Mubarak qualified as a leader unworthy of office, then Qaddafi surely does as well. Yet, in the speech, Qaddafi’s name was not even mentioned. The Obama administration has made improving the image of the U.S. a top objective of its foreign policy but its failure to decisively side with the people dying for the rights we cherish is tarnishing it. Iran Ups its Anti-Israeli Ante

Iran’s latest ploy to challenge Israel may contain a more sinister element than that of supplying arms to Hezbollah. Since Hosni Mubarak stepped down last Friday, protesters have reappeared on the streets of Tehran in numbers not seen since the Green Movement in 2009. The unrest continued on Wednesday, as pro- and anti-government demonstrators clashed at the funeral for one of the protesters killed two days ago. But there were two things about this latest round of disturbances that have unsettled the Iranian leadership. According to columnist Pepe Escobar, the first is that the demonstrators were demanding the resignation of Supreme Leader Ali Khomeini and not President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Suicide Book Found at Border

American leaders must address security at our Mexican border especially with the book today on suicide bombing found at the border. The terrorism book was published in Iran and includes names and last wills of suicide bombers and the dates of death of some of them. We have had Other Than Mexicans (OTMs) crossing our border since September 11th coming from countries harboring terrorism. I discussed this issue in detail in my first book "Because They Hate" in 2006. Our government knew about this way back when and they still have not done anything about it. Over a year ago, we found that an employee at the Mexican embassy in Beirut was selling visas to Hezbollah members in Mexico for $3,000 apiece. Terrorists know if they make it to Mexico, they can walk to America.

Revolution in the Arabic World

What we are witnessing in the Arabic streets throughout the Middle East is a revolution a la Khomeini in Iran (ca. 1979). Those demonstrators on the streets in Jordan and Egypt are radical Islamic Muslim Brotherhood groups calling for the overthrow of what they consider Western secular puppet leaders like Housni Mubarak and King Abdullah who both signed a peace treaty with the devil Israel and are manipulated by America. What we are seeing on the streets of the Arabic world from Beirut, with Hezbollah taking control of the government, to Amman to Cairo is a holy revolution calling for not only a regime change but also a theo-political change ushering in a new Islamic era.

Turning the Tables on North Korea

The conflict with North Korea is a Catch-22. On the one hand, ignoring the regime’s provocations guarantees they will continue and will escalate. ACT! for America Claims Victory in Passage of State Question 755 Following Grassroots Activities

ACT! for America claimed victory in last night’s overwhelming passage of Oklahoma State Question 755 by more than seventy percent of the electorate. The amendment, which forbids courts from considering Sharia (Islamic) or international law and mandates they “rely on federal and state laws when deciding cases,” passed following the organization’s grassroots campaign in Oklahoma which included radio ads and 600,000 automated phone calls to voters featuring the voice of Oklahoma native and former CIA Director Jim Woolsey.

“While the economy and jobs took center stage this election cycle, national security concerns were still at the forefront of the minds of Oklahomans,” said Brigitte Gabriel, President of ACT! for America. “Americans are increasingly aware of the threat of homegrown jihadism and creeping sharia law - and they took firm action last night.

“Overall, the election results bode well for progress in the Congress on these issues and will increase the pressure on the Obama administration to adjust the way it is defining and addressing the threat of radical Islam.”

The 1-minute radio spot, which began running on October 18, aired across the state. Ms. Gabriel, along with the local ACT! for America chapter leader, also penned an op-ed for The Oklahoman in support of the amendment.

As for the other election results, from the ACT! for America perspective the most important consequence is that “the power of the gavel” will switch in the U.S. House of Representatives.

By this, Ms. Gabriel adds, "I mean key committees, such as the Homeland Security Committee, will likely be chaired by Members of Congress who truly understand the threat radical Islam poses to our national security and who will have a different list of priorities regarding what bills to consider and hearings to hold. But now that this curtain has risen and we are able to view the "first act," thanks to the lawsuit my brave client, severely wounded first responder Vinnie Forras, brought to "Unmasque the Mosque," this existential tragic-comedy takes on new bizarre and troubling dimensions with each passing day.

As if it were not enough that our president, Barack Hussein Obama, endorsed the ground zero mosque at a White House celebration of Ramadan, after having canceled White House commemoration of the primarily Christian-Jewish National Day of Prayer. The nation's Voice of America, which is meant to broadcast and further American values and a message of freedom into Iran and the Middle East, among other world venues, aired what in effect was a defense of the building of the ground zero mosque last Sept. 15 (see video here.) FBI's Muslim Outreach Outrage

Earlier this summer, as reported by Ben Bradley of WLS Chicago, the FBI invited Kifah Mustapha to participate in a VIP tour of the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center as part of its Muslim outreach program. Mustapha was invited in spite of the fact that (1) he is on national terrorist watch lists; (2) he was an un-indicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial; (3) he has ties to and has been public in his support of the terrorist organization Hamas; (4) his mosque was identified in a 2004 Chicago Tribune report as being a hot spot for Hamas fundraising and terrorist support; and (5) he was dismissed from the Illinois State Police chaplaincy program because he failed the State Police background check.

Yesterday, September 29th, ACT! for America Executive Director Guy Rodgers sent a national e-mail about this outrage to ACT! for America's 145,000 members and urged them to call the FBI to ask why this happened. Numerous ACT! members reported that FBI officials treated them rudely, berated them, and insisted the story was a "lie" and a "fabrication." Today, ACT! for America is calling for a congressional investigation.

Chavez Meets Defeat

Hugo Chavez’s "roller-coaster is going down," declared Carlos Ocariz, a mayor that is part of the anti-Chavez Coalition for Democratic Unity, this week. Ocariz and other Venezuelan opposition activists had reason to be hopeful. Hugo Chavez's transformation of Venezuela into an anti-American harbor for drug traffickers and terrorists ran into resistance on Monday. The Venezuelan opposition took away the two-thirds majority in the National Assembly held by Chavez’s party, winning 52 percent of the vote and at least 61 of the 165 seats. Widespread Fraud Alleged in Afghan Election

At least 600 attacks by the Taliban disrupted the vote while evidence is emerging that President Hamid Karzai manipulated the ballots.

Fake Hate Crimes: An Islamist Weapon

Over the recent Fourth of July weekend, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) interviewed attendees of the 47th annual Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) convention about their experiences in dealing with “Islamophobia.” Shortly afterwards, on July 6, CAIR called on the FBI to investigate an act of arson at a Georgia mosque, saying that hate crimes were increasing because of a “vocal minority in our society promoting anti-Muslim bigotry.” The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) referred to it as one of the “incidents of Islamophobia [that] are on the rise in this country.” However, police later arrested a Muslim suspect. First Islamic College Opens in California

AOL News reports that the first accredited Islamic college in America, the Zaytuna College, has opened its doors in California. The two founders say they are opposed to terrorism and are patriotic Americans, but questions have been raised about some of their beliefs. Ryan Mauro, the Christian Action Network's National Security Advisor, wrote in FrontPage Magazine in May 2009 that the two founders, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf and Imam Zaid Shakir, have said some very positive things but some areas of concern remain. Israel's Crunch Time

The Obama administration gave Russia permission to deliver the fuel rods for Iran's Bushehr nuclear reactor in return for their support for U.N. sanctions. The Russians have announced they will begin the process on August 21 and Iran will begin operating the reactor in mid-September. In making this concession to Russia, the U.S. is forcing Israel to decide within one week if they will bomb the site before it is impossible to do so because of the radioactive fallout it would cause. The Tricks of Hezbollah

It is not a coincidence that the August 3 clash on the Lebanese-Israeli border came as the United Nations tribunal investigating the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri prepared to indict Hezbollah. Ryan Mauro spent almost two weeks in Israel and has recently returned to the U.S.

This is from his final day in Israel: Leaving Yad Vashem, I realize the cost of even relatively light anti-Semitism and bigotry is too high and ignoring it is too risky. Any remaining vestige of this plague and any sign of its resurfacing must be immediately stamped out, not only because of the consequences for the future but because it’s the best way of apologizing to those we abandoned in the past.

We owe it to the victims to make sure their sacrifice at least prevents the suffering of others. And when I walked out of Yad Vashem to a beautiful view of Jerusalem, it really hit me why we must stand with Israel. A sort of conviction arises that I think few people can relate to. Israel is the beauty that arose out of this tragedy - and walking out of the last dark room of books of names of Holocaust victims, Israel’s light shone brighter than at any moment during the trip.

Leaving Israel, I feel like I’m leaving a big part of me there, and bringing a small part of Israel to the U.S. Everything I love about my country, my culture, and my beliefs is embodied in Israel. I stand for peace. I stand for democracy and freedom. I stand for righting history’s wrongs. I stand for human rights and tolerance. I stand with Israel.

No Hatred in a Principled Stand

Cordoba House, the Islamic center/mosque proposed for the former Burlington Coat Factory building two blocks from New York's sacred ground - Ground Zero - has touched off a firestorm of debate in New York City and across the country. While Cordoba Initiative founder Imam Feisal (who will not call Hamas a terrorist organization), New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and a suddenly religiously tolerant left push ahead in their support of this thirteen-story mosque, they seem surprised by the intensity of the opposition.

Americans are a generally tolerant people, and while New Yorkers waited for the outcome of the Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing - they denied the building at 45-47 Park Place landmark status, allowing the permit process to move forward. But wait! Parts of United Flight 175's landing gear smashed through the building, landing on the empty selling floor. The building was, blessedly, vacant. This is not just another building.

Since the attacks of 9/11, a stateless declaration of war on the United States, the sensitivity game has been waged as a large-scale chess match. Politicians have made a point of articulating America's unique legacy of tolerance, even in the face of reciprocal intolerance. Want to bring a Bible to Saudi Arabia? Sorry. Got a problem with the red crescent-shaped Flight 93 memorial design? How could you reject such outreach? Is the construction of a mosque only a few blocks away from Ground Zero (and another mosque) a slap in the face to those who perished, their families, and the survivors? Just ask a New Yorker.

Our inalienable right of dissent has been tarred as hatred; our objections badly mischaracterized as a phobia; and we are pressured to ignore history and radical Islam's penchant for symbolism. Alyssa A. Lappen writes in Pajamas Media:

"Even Cordoba Institute's name telegraphs the organization's deceptiveness. Cordoba (also the name for Chautauqua's proposed new Muslim house) was the seat of the Islamic Caliphate that ruled most of Spain from Tariq ibn Zayid's 711 invasion through 1248, and controlled parts of Spain until its full liberation in 1492. However, neither the Umayyads (who ruled monolithically until about 1031), nor the particularly vicious Almoravids (who swept over the Atlas mountains and, in 1080, into Spain) ruled non-Muslims kindly. While Islamic harshness varied, it remained unquestionably ever-present."

Rick Lindstrom and I wrote Pursuing Liberty: America Through the Eyes of the Newly Free as both an intimate portrait of those who fled tyranny for American liberty, and as a historical record of how those countries descended into oppression. It was no surprise when we found Neda Bolourchi's powerful op-ed in Sunday's Washington Post: A Muslim victim of 9/11: "Build your mosque somewhere else":

"The Iranian revolution compelled my family to flee to America when I was 12 years old. Yet, just over two decades later, the militant version of our faith caught up with us on a September morning. I still identify as a Muslim. When you are born into a Muslim family, there is no way around it, no choices available: You are Muslim. I am not ashamed of my faith, but I am ashamed of what is done in its name."

Neda's mother was on United Flight 175, the second plane to smash into the World Trade Center the morning of September 11, 2001. She witnessed her mother's murder on live television. To this day, she is torn, and carries the anguish of that day:

"I still have great respect for the faith. Yet, I worry that the construction of the Cordoba House Islamic cultural center near the World Trade Center site would not promote tolerance or understanding; I fear it would become a symbol of victory for militant Muslims around the world."

Those militants who would cheer the destruction of the United States in favor of a worldwide caliphate ruled by sharia law have no problem telling us exactly what they intend to do. Why don't we believe them? And while the Cordoba Initiative's mission statement is to "improv[e] Muslim-West relations," it seems that sensitivities only exist on a one-way street.

We support New York construction worker Andy Sullivan's principled refusal to work on this particular site, as articulated during his interview on Fox & Friends on August 10: "It's not about religion - it's about human decency." Sullivan cited the "Muslim tradition of placing mosques on conquered territory," and is appealing directly to his rank and file colleagues. He was asked whether he would refuse paying work on the Cordoba Project, in that location, out of principle - even in a recession-wracked city. "Absolutely."

As fair-minded Americans, we find it difficult to operate outside the rule of law. While disallowing such a project on legal terms is vastly more in our character than rejecting it on emotional terms, sensitivity toward the mosque's opponents' pain - and a voluntary withdrawal of the project - truly would demonstrate their stated goal of goodwill toward the West. Just because it's legal to do something doesn't mean you should do it.

Vindicated for Removing Saddam

President Bush's top political advisor, Karl Rove, said on July 15 that his biggest mistake was not fighting back against Democrats trying to score cheap political points by accusing the President of lying to get the country to support an invasion of Iraq. Rove is right, but another mistake was made: not trying to vindicate the removal of Saddam Hussein using evidence, including Iraqi government documents, that was obtained after the regime’s overthrow. Compelling evidence exists to show that Saddam’s regime was sponsoring terrorists (e.g., Al-Qaeda), had the ability to quickly produce weapons of mass destruction, and the will to use both against its enemies. Mexico Drug War Spills into U.S.

The drug conflict in Mexico has been growing for years into a full-scale guerilla war, and now it has spilled into Texas. There are contradictory reports that the Los Zetas drug gang has taken over at least two ranches near Laredo, Texas, forcing law enforcement to ask for federal intervention. The drug lords have become increasingly brutal and effective, have ties to foreign terrorist groups and have even set off a car bomb. Frequent Muslim Speaker to Kids in New York Schools Supports Hamas, Hezbollah

In communicating with Hassan Shibly, it’s hard to see why this frequent guest speaker at schools in New York would be embroiled in a controversy. He’s easy to converse with and kind. He passionately condemns terrorism (including the 9/11 attacks) and sings the praises of America. But shortly after January 10, when he gave nine presentations during his fourth visit to Clarence High School, he became part of a controversy when a mother of a student that listened to Shibly reported that he blamed the 9/11 attacks on U.S. foreign policy, specifically support for Israel. The mother later found out that he doesn’t consider Hezbollah to be a terrorist group. School officials defended Shibly in emails to the mother and he defends his position by saying it is backed by top political scientists. [more...]

Mourning a Jihadist

Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah died at age 75 in Beirut on July 4. As a top Shiite cleric and spiritual influence for Hezbollah, he had a large number of followers - including one senior editor at CNN named Octavia Nasr. As Obama softens his language on radical Islam and even avoids mentioning our enemy by name, lest we offend the moderate Muslim world, terrorists are feeling more empowered than ever due to the perceived weakness of the administration.

Not only have we arrested over 55 homegrown terrorists in the last 12 months alone - all Muslims plotting to kill Americans and carry out terrorist attacks - but our Mexican border is now becoming a terrorist highway.

Different terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaida and Hezbollah are working with the MS13 gang and drug cartels paying them top dollars to smuggle terrorists into the U.S. We estimate thousand of terrorists have been smuggled through the Mexican border in the last few years. The situation is so bad that our government has a code name for them: "OTM" (Other Than Mexicans).

A major in Burma's army has defected and delivered hundreds of secret documents and photographs to the Democratic Voice of Burma, an opposition group that has tried for years to convince the West that the ruling military junta is pursuing nukes to no avail. Times Square Bomber's Day in Court

"One has to understand where I am coming from. I consider myself ... a Muslim Soldier." This is the statement of Faisal Shahzad as he pleaded guilty yesterday to attempting to blow up Times Square by exploding a car bomb.

How many other Faisal Shahzads dressed in suits - working in professional jobs, living in middle class neighborhoods, their kids playing with yours - are plotting at this very moment to commit terrorist acts against Americans? In the last twelve months alone, the U.S. has arrested over 55 homegrown Islamic terrorists who were plotting to kill Americans, all either born into Islam or converts.

Faisal Shazad said his plot was to retaliate against the U.S. and other forces for attacking Muslims in Afganistan and Pakistan. When the judge questioned him, saying: "But not the people who were walking in Times Square that night. Did you look around to see who they were?"

Shazad responded: "Well, the people select the government. We consider them all the same." He added, "I am part of the answer to the U.S. terrorizing the Muslim nations and the Muslim people. And, on behalf of that, I'm avenging the attack."

This brings up an important point about just who Jihadists consider to be innocent. We hear Muslim talking heads such as those at CAIR and other Islamic organizations in America condemning the killing of innocent people. What Americans do not understand is that in the Islamic mind, citizens who participate in the democratic election of a government are not considered to be innocents. They are as much a part of a military force that participated in the war with their votes as the soldiers serving in the Middle East.

Shahzad's statement should be a rude awakening for Americans.

Viva Palestina: Islamist Ally

When Israeli commandos recently raided a terrorist-laden “relief” ship, they came into deadly contact with so-called “peace” activists who were aiding the terrorist cause of Gaza’s Hamas rulers. Among them were representatives of Viva Palestina, an organization founded by the anti-American former member of Britain’s parliament, George Galloway. Viva Palestina portrays itself as a humanitarian group dedicated to helping the people of Gaza. In reality, the group has longstanding ties to terrorism - one its members was once a senior leader in Hamas - and prolongs the Gazans’ suffering by supporting Hamas; by aiding its jihad to destroy Israel; and by working closely with the Turkish Islamist group that sponsored the recent Gaza flotilla.

Ha'aretz has revived the mystery surrounding the inability to find weapons of mass destruction stockpiles in Iraq, the most commonly cited justification for Operation Iraqi Freedom and one of the most embarrassing episodes for the United States. Satellite photos of a suspicious site in Syria are providing new support for the reporting of a Syrian journalist who briefly rocked the world with his reporting that Iraq’s WMD had been sent to three sites in Syria just before the invasion commenced. Another Intel Report Says OBL in Iran

The evidence is getting thicker and thicker, as you know if you read this Web site regularly. If you’re just coming across it now, I suggest searching through the archives for more information on Bin Laden’s safe haven in Iran. Now, the Israeli intelligence Web site Debkafile (which is very hit-or-miss) says that a Kuwaiti newspaper called Al-Siyassa is reporting that Osama Bin Laden has been in northwestern Iran, specifically Khorasan Province’s town of Savzevar, which is 220 kilometers west of Mashhad. Bin Laden has been reported by other sources to have been at or near Mashhad, and the place is a well-known Al-Qaeda transit point. Makes sense. [more...]

Analysis of Israeli Sub Deployment to Gulf

This is a calculated leak meant to deter the Iranians and is part of a tit-for-tat strategy in response to the shipment of Scuds to Hezbollah. It appears that the Scuds did not go to Lebanon but are instead operating by Hezbollah at a Syrian military base. Imagine the American response in 1950 if the Japanese government sought to erect a shrine to its World War II Emperor in Pearl Harbor, right next to the sunken wreckage of the USS Arizona. Would "outrage" be strong enough to describe the response?

Fast forward to 2010. Less than nine years after the worst terrorist attack on American soil in our history, an imam who blames America for the 9/11 attack wants to construct a 13-story mosque and Islamic center 600 feet from "Ground Zero." This is an outrage!

Public opinion forced many New York officials, as well as officials in the Obama administration, to reconsider locating a civilian trial for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11, in New York.

Now we need a tidal wave of public opinion to flood New York officials telling them that allowing a mosque to be built at Ground Zero is a slap in the face of the thousands of families who lost loved ones in that Jihadist attack.

This is why ACT! for America is launching a nationwide petition that we will deliver to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, urging him and other New York officials to oppose the building of this mosque in this location.

9/11 survivors and their families are in disbelief at the insensitivity being expressed by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his supporters who want this mosque at Ground Zero. They are astonished that an imam who endorses sharia law - the same law system that motivated the Jihadists to blow up the World Trade Center, would be so brazen as to erect a mosque at Ground Zero. There are many other places such a mosque could be located.

What's more, guess what day they are planning for the grand opening of the mosque? None other than September 11, 2011 - the ten-year anniversary of the Jihadist atrocity.

"Islam Rising" Coming to a Billboard Near You

The Christian Action Network is taking the fight against radical Islam to a new level by launching a massive campaign to put billboards up in South Carolina promoting its latest documentary. Each billboard simply states, “Islam Rising—Be Warned,” in reference to the title of the film, “Islam Rising: Geert Wilders’ Warning to the West.”

“Islam Rising” shows how radical Islam has made tremendous progress in conquering Europe, gaining footholds in communities and governments. To show how dangerous the situation has become, the film tells the story of Geert Wilders, a highly controversial member of the Netherlands’ parliament currently on trial for alleged hate speech for criticizing Islam.

Wilders lives in constant fear of his life for making a film titled “Fitna” showing how verses in the Koran, Islam’s holy book, are motivating the extremists to act with violence. For the first time in the United States, “Fitna” will be distributed as part of the “Islam Rising” documentary.

“We chose to put the first billboards up in South Carolina because of the terrorist training camp that currently exists in York,” Martin Mawyer, the President of the Christian Action Network said.

Mawyer was referring to a topic covered in his organization’s previous film, “Homegrown Jihad,” about how a group called the Muslims of the Americas has set up compounds throughout the country that are used to recruit and sometimes train followers.

Already, two billboards have been put on busy South Carolina interstates. The 14x46 displays are located on I-26 at mile-marker 125 and US 301N in Orangeburg.

CAN is currently negotiating for four more billboards to be put up in the state and billboards are set to go up in Tennessee within weeks.

Honor the Founding Fathers by Supporting Independents

George Washington warned about "the baneful effects of the spirit of party," calling it "truly their [Americans] worst enemy." John Adams used especially prescient language, saying: "There is nothing I dread so much as a division of the Republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader and converting measures into opposition to each other. This ... is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution." Washington was so concerned about political parties that he devoted a major part of his Farewell Address to fighting against them. May Day in Iran

The desperate economic situation in Iran is causing workers to lose their jobs or go months without pay, pushing them into the opposition camp. On International Labor Day on May 1, Iranians demanding freedom and better treatment of workers while the regime’s cronies live rich and comfortable took to the streets. South Carolina Newspaper Reports on MOA Site

A South Carolina newspaper is downplaying concerns about a site called "Holy Islamville" in their site, a Muslim closed community run by a controversial group called Muslims of the Americas. The Christian Action Network has accused MOA of being an extremist organization that offers paramilitary training to some of its members. On April 25, an article was published in The Herald of Rock Hill, S.C., titled "Officials: No Reason to Fear Holy Islamville." Pakistani Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud, who was thought to be killed by America, has released a videotape after the attempted car bombing in New York City, vowing to attack major US cities. He stated: "The time is very near when our fedayeen (suicide bombers) will attack the American states in the major cities."

"Homegrown terrorism is reaching an all time high. Over 55 Americans have been arrested in the last twelve months alone, all Muslims, trying to kill Americans," said Brigitte Gabriel, President of ACT for America, the largest national security grassroots organization in America with 80,000 members and 380 chapters nationwide.

Iran's Secret Uranium Deal with Zimbabwe

On April 22, the Drudge Report linked to an article about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad meeting with Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe. It failed to cause a fuss, but it tells us a lot about why General David Petraeus believes that Iran's nuclear program has been delayed and we have at least until the end of the year before it gets the bomb. Iran secretly agreed last month to provide Zimbabwe with oil in return for being given access to its uranium ore, the basic material that must be enriched in order to create the fuel for a nuclear bomb. With the help of Liberty Counsel, the Christian Action Network has won its legal battle with the State of Maine over its controversial mailing program that exposed Islamic indoctrination activities in public schools. Last May, the State of Maine revoked CAN's charitable status after it mailed a letter that informed parents of certain Islamic education programs in public schools across the country. The mailing exposed such schooling programs as took place in Byron, CA that asked students to dress up as Muslims, chant "Praise be to Allah" and learn the Five Pillars of Islamic faith. The media is going to praise Danny Glover for getting arrested for standing up for workers abused by capitalism run amok. The Second Battle for Mogadishu

The U.S., European Union and their African allies are training and equipping the security forces of Somalia's Transitional Federal Government to try to take back the parts of Mogadishu now under the control of an Al-Qaeda affiliate. Large portions of the city, known to most Americans as the site of the 1993 ambush that prompted the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the country, is controlled by the al-Shabaab terrorist group. The Burqa Bomb

On April 17, a refugee camp at Kohat in Pakistan was struck by two suicide bombers that disguised themselves with burqas, the full-body veil worn by some Muslim women to make sure none of their skin is exposed. Is Kim Jong-Il Fearful of an Uprising?

A South Korean naval ship sank on March 26 after an explosion ripped the vessel into two. Suspicion of the source of the explosion immediately focused on North Korea, although South Korean and American officials emphasized that there was no proof that the incident was an attack and that it could have resulted from a collision with a mine planted decades ago. 'Islam Rising' Exposes Radical Islam in America

On May 1, 2010 Christian Action Network (CAN) and PRB Films will release a new documentary entitled, Islam Rising, a film that exposes the dangers of radical Islam to the Western world and features the internationally acclaimed Dutch politician, Geert Wilders. The film follows on the heels of CAN’s explosive documentary released last year, Homegrown Jihad: The Terrorist Camps Around U.S.

Mr. Wilders, who is currently running for Prime Minister in the Netherlands, lives under a constant death threat for producing his own film, Fitna. His film shows how radical Islamists are simply following the dictates of the Quran in their attempt at world domination through violence, murder and infiltration. As a special feature of Islam Rising, Mr. Wilders’ own controversial film, Fitna, is included.

Geert Wilders is currently on trial in The Netherlands for his alleged "hate speech" against Islam and has almost single-handedly brought global attention to the Islamic infiltration and dominance of Europe.

Though CAN does not endorse all the views of Mr. Wilders made in the film, the Dutch parliamentarian warns that if the growing Islamic takeover of Europe is not stopped, the West could be faced with a "thousand years of darkness."

As part of its promotion for Islam Rising, CAN will be displaying billboards along major interstates of the east coast. Six billboards will be on display, starting in South Carolina, by the middle of April.

Islam Rising will debut in Washington, D.C. on May 1 in the Rayburn House Office Building. More than 500 people are expected to be in attendance.

Moscow Bombings Already Being Misunderstood

The terrorist attacks in Moscow are already being misunderstood. The media is already trying to frame the conflict in nationalist terms, failing to see how extremist ideological movements attach themselves to nationalist causes, viewing them as a subset of their overall worldwide struggle. In CNN.com’s report about the bombings carried out by the “Black Widows,” a group of female Chechens whose husbands have been killed by the Russians, they have analyst Bob Ayers explain their motivations. Just like some sought to differentiate Al-Qaeda in Iraq from Al-Qaeda and the Taliban from Al-Qaeda, painting them as flawed liberation movements, the same is being done with the Chechen terrorists. Three Muslims Charged in Shooting Homosexual in San Francisco

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that three Muslim cousins have been arrested for shooting a dozen people in one night with a BB gun, believing they were homosexual. The three suspects, Mohammad Habibzada, Shafiq Hashemi, and Sayed Bassam, allegedly drove up next to one victim and videotaped shooting him in the face. He reported the attack to law enforcement, which then arrested the group. The victim refused medical treatment and did not suffer serious injury. [more...]

Virginia House of Delegates Chooses Extremist to Open Prayers

The Investigative Project on Terrorism has brought attention to the decision by the Virginia House of Delegates to have Imam Johari Abdul-Malik of the Dar al-Hijrah mosque to deliver its opening prayers. The mosque has a history of attendees joining terrorist causes. The IPT reports that in 2001, Imam Abdul-Malik spoke for The Islamic Association for Palestine, which was later shut down for being a front for Hamas. The West treats the nuclear programs of Iran, North Korea and Syria as individual entities, but they are really a cooperative effort between these rogue governments. The three countries work closely together, allowing each partner to benefit from the progress made by another. This makes the threat more severe, but it also means that stopping one member of this nuclear Axis of Evil will significantly hinder the efforts of the others. [more...]
